Manufacturing Gains 4,000 Jobs in June

The Department of Labor reported this morning that America's manufacturing sector added 4,000 jobs in June.
The #AAMeter, which tracks President Obama's promise to create 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term, increased to +391,000 jobs, after revisions to previous months' data.
“Manufacturing gained a mere 4,000 new jobs in June. While it’s important that we continue in a positive direction, it’s clear the sector’s growth rate isn’t on par with the rest of the economy. Factory jobs are being stifled by a strong dollar and rising manufacturing imports", said Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul.
“Funding and passing a long-term infrastructure investment plan would go a long way to create good-paying jobs. And now that TPA has been passed, it’s more important than ever to get the details of the TPP right. That means enforcing trade laws and tackling currency manipulation,” Paul added.
The #AAMeter: During his re-election campaign, President Obama set a goal of creating 1 million new manufacturing jobs in his second term. The Alliance for American Manufacturing continues to track the president's progress via our monthly manufacturing jobs tracker, the #AAMeter, based on monthly jobs data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
