Optomec Posts 100% Revenue Growth in First Half of 2015
August 5, 2015 | Business WireEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Optomec, a leading global supplier of production grade additive manufacturing systems for 3D Printed Metals and 3D Printed Electronics, today announced record revenue through the first half of 2015, up over 100% compared to the previous year. The Company is profitable on both an EBITDA and Net Income basis, and maintains a substantial backlog that will ensure significant revenue growth through the remainder of 2015.
The revenue increase was due to continued strong sales of Optomec Additive Manufacturing systems for high volume production applications. As one example, the Company delivered multiple Aerosol Jet systems, each capable of printing millions of 3D electronic devices, to an Asian contract manufacturer for production of next generation mobile devices.
Other notable commercial orders included systems for printing 3D wear resistant-coatings on metal components, for printing 3D conformal electronics on wearable devices, and for printing 3D conformal sensors to enable Condition Based Maintenance of high value components as part of the Industrial Internet or “Internet of Things” (IoT).
In Q2, new orders for Optomec systems were split almost equally across the Company’s two core product lines, for 3D printing of structural metals and 3D functional electronics. Approximately 60% came from international, and 40% from domestic customers. Other highlights included expansion of Optomec distribution channels in Europe and Mexico.
“We are well on track to double sales this year, as well as improve overall profitability. We believe this strong performance validates our focus on commercial production applications, as well as our open systems approach that eases adoption of our solutions for industry,” said Dave Ramahi, Optomec CEO, who added: “We are also seeing some interesting opportunities to expand our solution portfolio, especially as it relates to sensor and antenna offerings for the Internet of Things.”
