Laser Solutions from LPKF at MD&M Philadelphia
September 8, 2015 | LPKFEstimated reading time: 1 minute
LPKF Laser & Electronics has announced it will exhibit at the 2015 MD&M Philadelphia Expo, which takes place October 7-8 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. Situated in booth 306, LPKF will showcase a variety of technologies from Laser Plastic Welding to PCB depaneling and production systems.
One of the technologies highlighted by LPKF will be laser plastic welding; a process of bonding plastic using focused laser radiation. Clean-room compatibility and hygienic, particle-free processing makes laser plastic welding ideal for the medical device industry. Potential applications range from microfluidic devices to catheters to intravenous tubing. LPKF offers a variety of laser plastic welding systems to fit any production environment, from stand-alone units to fully integrated/automated in-line systems.
Another technology represented at the show will be UV laser depaneling, a stress-free method of removing individual circuits from larger panels. The stress-free nature of UV laser processing is perfect for medical electronics applications which feature flexible materials or carry sensitive components that could be damaged by mechanical depaneling methods such as routing, dicing or sawing.
