Technology Upgrades at cms electronics
October 16, 2015 | cms electronicsEstimated reading time: 1 minute
cms is expanding its portfolio in the precision electronics with optical drilling and a hybrid placement system.
Most important for cms electronics is to provide latest technologies in production to customers at all times. For this reason cms electronics does not only deal with the hot topic of industry 4.0 and play a significant pioneering role, but now also offers its customers one of the latest manufacturing technologies. cms electronics customers can now not only assemble printed circuit boards made of IMS material on a new Hybrid 5 Assembléon machine but additionally prepare the fiducials by precise optical drilling.
For this purpose a specially designed and finally developed drilling machine by the manufacturers Schmoll was installed in a separate air-conditioned room at cms electronics. The separation of this processing unit from the rest of the production facilities ensures the highest accuracy by eliminating environmental influences such as exhaust heat or vibrations.
Extraordinarily remarkable is the performance of the unit with a 6Ϭ process capability at 50 µm. This is achieved through the complex interaction of high-resolution cameras, accurate positioning and perfectly tuned software.
Optical drilling is one of the basic requirements for high-precision PCB systems with LEDs as used in lighting applications e.g. the matrix headlamp technology in the automotive industry.
