Electrolube to Unveil Latest Conformal Coating Innovations at productronica
October 30, 2015 | ElectrolubeEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
Electrolube will unveil its 'pièce de resistance' – a range of exciting new conformal coatings, including a pioneering new two-component system, at the upcoming productronica 2015 event in Munich, Germany.
Taking centre stage at Electrolube's booth (Stand 466 in Hall 4) is the innovative range of two-component conformal coating systems, prefixed "2K". The new range comprises three products, each meeting a host of specifications and all fully IPC-CC-830 compliant.
2K100 is a general purpose two-part system, offering high flexibility and low stress across an operating temperature range of -40°C to 100°C. The coating is hydrophobic and demonstrates excellent performance with regard to salt mist, condensation and chemical resistance. The 2K300 two-part system is also hydrophobic and highly resistant to condensation, salt mist and chemicals, but offers an enhanced thermal performance (-40°C to 130°C).
For tougher applications, the new 2K500 two-part system is not only mechanically robust but also offers good abrasion resistance along with increased thermal endurance (-40°C to 140°C). Ensuring good adhesion to any substrate, the 2K500 system is additionally characterised by its excellent thermal shock performance.
Electrolube can offer a conformal coating for virtually every type of application. Making their debut at productronica this year are ranges of urethane, silicone, fluorinated polymer and fluorinated solvent based products that meet key industry standards and the demands of a variety of harsh operating environments.
The URC high performance, low-odour urethane coating offers outstanding adhesion to a variety of substrates and a fast touch-dry time. The chemically resistant coating has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 130°C and meets both IPC-CC-830 and MIL (MIL-1-46058C) approvals.
Offering excellent thermal performance, SC-102 is a 100% solids silicone coating that is particularly suited to the protection of delicate components. This soft, flexible coating has an exceptionally fast touch-dry (
The specialist fluorinated polymer coating, FPC has very low surface energy and will repel hydrocarbon and silicone oils, synthetic fluids and aqueous solutions. It has low solids content and low film strength once cured and offers several practical advantages, including a non-requirement for connectors to be masked prior to coating. FPC is non-flammable and contains a UV trace to aid visual inspection. The associated product, HFS is a non-flammable, high-performance fluorinated solvent for diluting fluorinated coatings. It is cost effective and efficient in application and offers a very fast touch-dry time.
"Productronica will provide a great platform from which we can launch our innovative conformal coatings ranges. These new products are the result of considerable investment in terms of money and R&D resources and stand testament to Electrolube’s position as an innovator and a supplier of technology-leading products to the electrical and electronics manufacturing industries. This has been a real team effort with significant co-operation between the UK and Chinese teams," said Phil Kinner, head of Electrolube's conformal coatings division.
Brian Huang, Deputy R&D Manager from the Chinese team is responsible for the development of the SC-102 and URC coatings. "We are really looking forward to launching the new coatings at Productronica. Having recently won Best Conformal Coatings award in India for our entire range, we have taken innovation one step further to present the market with the very latest, cutting edge solutions for even more applications, which our team of knowledgeable staff will be able to advise visitors on during the show," said Huang.
Electrolube Managing Director Ron Jakeman comments, "Electrolube has a solid, established reputation for providing specialist technical solutions to industry that solve customers’ manufacturing problems and help them bring high-quality products to market faster. We have a fantastic new range of innovative solutions to offer the industry, and we’re very excited to be launching the new ranges at this important industry forum."
