SMTC Mexico Facility Now Certified to ISO 14001

SMTC Corp., a global electronics manufacturing services provider, has announced that their Chihuahua, Mexico, manufacturing facility has earned the environmental certification ISO 14001 from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This certification follows two days of intensive audits of SMTC's environmental management system and practices by an accredited ISO Registrar.
“This achievement illustrates SMTC’s commitment to the environment. ISO 14001 certification is increasingly becoming a customer requirement and we are excited to be part of its adoption worldwide,” said Sushil Dhiman, president and chief executive officer, SMTC.
The ISO 14001 standard provides tools for companies and organizations looking to identify and control their environmental impact while continually improving their performance. ISO 14001 defines the criteria to which an environmental management system can be certified, and maps out a framework that an organization should follow. Using ISO 14001 can provide assurance to customers, employees, and stakeholders that a company’s environmental impact is being measured and improved. Key areas SMTC focuses on include: compliance with environmental legislation, pollution prevention, minimizing energy and resource usage, and exceeding customer environmental expectations.
