Murata Sponsors Nordic IoT Hackathon 2016

Murata announced that it is a Gold Sponsor of the forthcoming Nordic IoT Hackathon 2016 event taking place in Lund, Sweden, April 22-24.
The Nordic IoT Hackathon is a one-of-a-kind event in Northern Europe and gathers the best developers from around the globe, working on the design of intelligent buildings and healthcare infrastructure. Participation is truly international, featuring 10 teams from countries including Russia, USA, Canada, Israel, Germany, and Sweden.
Hiroshi Dan, Product Manager, Sensors, Murata stated, “The Nordic IoT Hackathon is a key event for Murata. Supporting the creation and development of IoT applications is a significant focus for us and we look forward to working together with young engineers at the event to help them achieve their designs.“
The event runs for 50 hours, during which 10 teams comprised of startup companies and engineers create IoT designs in either the Intelligent Buildings or Intelligent Healthcare Establishments category. Entries for the Intelligent Buildings category cover the use of IoT in all types of structures from schools and factories to shopping malls and government buildings. The Intelligent Healthcare category covers IoT innovation ideas in hospitals, elderly care establishments, and home care provision in addition to designs that encourage and assist in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Murata will provide a ballistocardiograph (BCG) sensor node – SCA11H – that can sense heart and respiration rate without connecting any pads or wires to the person being monitored. It can also be used to sense bed occupancy and sleep state. The sensor is available as a complete unit that incorporates a microcontroller and Wi-Fi transceiver.
