Saline Lectronics Implements Cogiscan’s New Factory Intelligence Software
April 18, 2016 | Saline Lectronics, Inc.Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Saline Lectronics, Inc., a leading electronics contract manufacturer, recently implemented Cogiscan’s new Factory Intelligence software. Aligned perfectly with Lectronics’ commitment to Industry 4.0 and a smart, connected factory, Cogiscan’s Factory Intelligence software will enhance Lectronics’ ability to better understand the performance and needs of its SMT production lines.
“Cogiscan is proud to play a role in Lectronics’ continuous evolution,” commented Mitch DeCaire, Channel Sales Manager, Cogiscan. “They had previously separated themselves from many of their competitors by implementing a world-class material tracking and traceability system. Now, by adding Cogiscan's Factory Intelligence module, they will optimize line performance and asset utilization.”
Factory Intelligence is an integrated system that monitors productivity per machine and per line, throughout a factory, and also from site to site. Key Performance Indicators are constantly monitored, including drill-downs at various levels. Centralizing real-time data capture, this software provides instantaneous feedback and analytics on all materials and equipment, allowing a manufacturer to troubleshoot and adapt on-the-fly, with minimal cost or downtime.
With Factory Intelligence, Lectronics will have key insights into how an SMT line is performing in real-time. If a line is not performing as it should, data will be provided to quickly troubleshoot and get the line up and running optimally.
Additionally, Factory Intelligence will enable Lectronics to better predict when a line will be completed with a production job, allowing manufacturing to plan the production schedule more accurately and efficiently. This line prioritization, coupled with a decrease in machine idleness, will open up improved cost savings and higher profits for Lectronics.
“Factory Intelligence aligns with our Smart Factory goals,” commented Jason Sciberras, Manufacturing Manager, Lectronics. “I am excited to see how this software puts information in the right place at the perfect time. This faster flow of information is critical to our production planning.”

Nolan’s Notes: Coming to Terms With AI
05/07/2024 | Nolan Johnson -- Column: Nolan's NotesHow fast do things move in the world of data analytics? Here’s an example. We’ve been planning this issue on artificial intelligence for the past few months, and, in fact, I had already written this column about a month ago. Then I went to IPC APEX EXPO and upended it all. I originally had compared AI to drag racing in that (CPU) horsepower and new (data) vehicles have steadily delivered higher performance competition. That seemed pretty accurate given how generative AI models dominated the popular media with amazing results—and sometimes spectacular crashes.
