BEST Wins Best New Product in PCB Rework 2015
May 4, 2016 | BEST, Inc.Estimated reading time: 1 minute
BEST Inc. was presented Circuits Assembly's NPI Award for its HeatShieldGel high temperature shielding product at the recent IPC APEX Expo 2016 in Las Vegas.
The HeatShieldGel is a water-based gel that protects components from heat. This revolutionary product, made from a water-based gel, easily goes on to parts neighboring the device to be reworked or on heat-sensitive devices such as ceramic capacitors that will be subject to reflow. After the rework or reflow process has been completed, the gel can be simply cleaned off with water. It is highly flexible in that it can be used on boards with tightly-spaced components without having to do any cutting or modification of shielding tape or materials.
The HeatShieldGel is effective and does not impact the reliability of the PCB. It is more effective than Kapton tape by a factor of 4X. It has been shown to be innocuous to the PCB through thorough ionic cleanliness testing, assuring you that when cleaned up properly the reliability of the board will not be impacted by using this product. The material is a single use, water soluble, clay-based, environmentally-safe formulation. It is non-flammable, non-toxic and does not have any corrosive properties.
The HeatShieldGel comes in a 3 oz plastic sealed screw top jar and retails for less than $30. For more information, click here.
