Mycronic Wins 1st Place in Import/Export Category of European Business Awards 2015/16
June 21, 2016 | Mycronic ABEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

After a 15-month long competition period, Mycronic AB has taken first place in the Import/Export category in this year’s European Business Awards (EBA), one of Europe’s largest business competitions.
This year’s competition involved more than 32,000 companies from 33 countries. Mycronic participated in an exclusive prize ceremony on Friday, 17 June in Milano. The gala was attended by prominent business leaders, as well as European ambassadors and ministers.
"We are happy, amazed and, of course, incredibly proud to receive this prize, especially considering how tough the competition was. The prize highlights the extraordinary efforts put forth by all of our employees," says Charlott Samuelsson, Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence at Mycronic AB.
The EBAs are given out within 11 different categories. The jury’s motivation for selecting Mycronic as best company within the category Import/Export is as follows:
"In the high-tech manufacturing sector, there is sometimes opportunity to develop innovative production technologies which enable the whole industry to achieve higher productivity and effectively integrate the organization’s relationship with its customers. The winner has developed many such innovations which have secured its position as a global partner to electronics manufacturers with over 90% of its business volume being exported and providing the company with truly outstanding performances in sales and profits."
Mycronic lies at the forefront of the electronics industry and is a world leader in creating production equipment with innovative solutions for manufacturing of electronics. With more than 30 years' experience and 470 patents, the company supplies more than 2,300 customers in over 50 countries through 10 subsidiaries and distributors around the world. The majority of sales, approximately 98 percent, go to export.
"The extraordinary capacity for entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership and business acumen exemplified by recipients of the ‘Ruban d’Honneur’ and the other winners of the competition’s various categories, shows how much can be achieved in challenging markets. All participants are a credit to their country, and we wish them all the best in the future," says Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM.
"It is incredibly inspiring to see companies from all over Europe networking and creating new contacts, and we are of course extra proud to have a winner from Sweden in this pretigious competition," says Karl Andersson, responsible for EBA at RMS Sweden.
During the 2015/16 competition, all EU markets were represented, as well as Turkey, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia, and the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia. Together, they represent a turnover exceeding EUR1.2 billion and employ more than 2.5 million persons. The EBA is now in its tenth year. The competition’s primary purpose is to promote development of a stronger and more successful business environment in Europe.
