Kingfield Electronics Invests in New Inspection Systems

Kingfield Electronics Ltd recently invested in two high-definition digital inspection systems from Quins to further improve its inspection capabilities. The systems provide the latest inspection technology with many advantages for improving quality, featuring high picture quality up to a resolution of 1200dpi. Auto focus and a high digital zoom factor are perfect for inspecting high density PCB assemblies including surface mount and through-hole mounted components. The systems can also be used for conformal coating inspection. These systems are in addition to the company’s existing 2D and 3D AOI, and X-Ray inspection capabilities.
The patented inspection process is based on alternation of the image display while auto segmentation partitions the images into segments. The advantages of error marking and automatic error image capture make diagnosis and feedback of any problems identified much easier and more repeatable. Output from these systems will ultimately be fed straight into our problem management system for efficient short term and long term resolution.
Martin Green, quality director at Kingfield Electronics, commented, "We are delighted with the capability of these new systems as the High definition imagery produced by these state of the art systems provides a world class inspection capability at Kingfield Electronics. The systems also include ultra-violet imagery capability which can be used for conformal coating inspection and we are already reaping the benefits from their introduction."

American Made Advocacy: Lobbying Congress Supports the Supply Chain
05/27/2025 | Shane Whiteside -- Column: American Made AdvocacyThe upheaval in world markets is driving daily headlines. The global supply chain has seemed “normal” for the microelectronics industry because over the past three decades, an increasing percentage of microelectronics components and materials have been made overseas. For many years, other countries, primarily in Asia, invested heavily in their microelectronics industry while U.S. companies offshored manufacturing services in pursuit of the lowest cost.
