SMT Xtra Launches Sister Company – SMT Xtra USA Inc.
March 7, 2017 | SMT XtraEstimated reading time: 1 minute

SMT Xtra announces the launch of its sister corporation, SMT Xtra USA Inc. The company will provide SMT nozzles, feeders, spare parts, printer parts, and machine sales in the U.S. and Mexico.
Based in Maryville, TN, SMT Xtra USA was founded in response to SMT Xtra’s continued growth plans to establish a direct presence in the United States that offers the same products and services that are available in Europe and Asia. The SMT Xtra USA facility is headed up by the company’s U.S.-based Sales Manager Paul Pittman.
A reflection of the expansion of the surface mount technology market within America can be seen with some of the major OEMs such as Ford, Fiat, Chrysler and General Motors with more than $5 billion combined in capital spending within just the auto market.
As a result of a predicted growth of 2.7 percent in 2017 and 2.8 percent in 2018 in U.S manufacturing, according to the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation, there has never been a better time to expand SMT Xtra’s presence within the American market.
SMT replacement parts can be expensive, and the company realizes that efficiency and running costs in manufacturing are the difference between winning and losing customers. SMT Xtra acts as an extension of its customers’ engineering and purchasing teams to provide quality SMT nozzles, feeders, spare parts, printer parts, and machine sales to the global electronics industry.
About SMT Xtra USA Inc.
SMT Xtra USA is the sister company of SMT Xtra, a well-established European company established in 2007, with its global base in Doncaster, UK and satellite offices in Hungary and China. The company specializes in quality SMT production spares and consumables to a global customer base and is able to export worldwide thanks to its professional dedicated team of experts. SMT Xtra is one of very few companies of its kind to be ISO 9001:2008 certified for its quality management system. The company’s commitment to quality service coupled with highly competitively pricing has established SMT Xtra as a leader in the Surface Mount Electronic Assembly sector. Trouble in Your Tank: Can You Drill the Perfect Hole?
07/07/2025 | Michael Carano -- Column: Trouble in Your TankIn the movie “Friday Night Lights,” the head football coach (played by Billy Bob Thornton) addresses his high school football team on a hot day in August in West Texas. He asks his players one question: “Can you be perfect?” That is an interesting question, in football and the printed circuit board fabrication world, where being perfect is somewhat elusive. Driving Innovation: Direct Imaging vs. Conventional Exposure
07/01/2025 | Simon Khesin -- Column: Driving InnovationMy first camera used Kodak film. I even experimented with developing photos in the bathroom, though I usually dropped the film off at a Kodak center and received the prints two weeks later, only to discover that some images were out of focus or poorly framed. Today, every smartphone contains a high-quality camera capable of producing stunning images instantly.

The Death of the Microsection
06/26/2025 | Bob Neves, Reliability Assessment Solutions, Inc.I got my start out of college grinding and polishing PCB microsections. My thumbs are a bit arthritic today because of the experience (microsection grinders know what I mean). Back then, via structures were rather large, and getting to the center in six steps of grinding and polishing was easy compared to what my team has been doing recently at the lab.
