CEO comments
During the first half of the year, Mycronic saw strong demand for the Group’s products within the electronics industry, primarily due to a good photomask market. The Group reports a strong first half-year with regard to order intake, sales and earnings. Sales increased 37% compared with the first half of 2015, and the operating margin reached 17%. We are now entering the second half year with a record high order backlog and we see continuing high levels of activity on the market and amongst our customers.
The global market for SMT equipment experienced a negative trend in 2015, while Mycronic maintained its volumes and margins. In 2016, the slowdown has affected us and demand for SMT equipment remains difficult to assess. Hence, it is essential that we invest in product development to secure our competitive edge. We have introduced equipment for dispensing of several different mounting fluids. Our Jet Dispenser builds on the unique jet printing platform and is considerably faster than other existing solutions. The equipment targets new segments within the surface mount market. We have broadened our product offering and created opportunities for a position shift. The first systems reached customers during the second quarter.
During the period, Mycronic acquired RoyoTech, the German company that developed the strategic storage solutions which have long been an integrated part of Mycronic’s offering for the smart factory, Mycronic 4.0.
During the first half-year, we received orders for eight mask writers for various applications, of which several were advanced systems. We received the first order for a measuring system for quality assurance of the most advanced photomasks, which is becoming increasingly important as more photomasks are produced for products where the display is central. Our replacement offering has proven to be in line with customers’ requirements to ensure long-term high productivity for photomask manufacturing. During the second quarter we launched the Prexision-800, a mask writer for the most complex photomasks, which ensures effective production of photomasks for the 4K phones and advanced AMOLED displays of the future.
In short, during the first half of 2016, we continued delivering results at a fast pace while simultaneously executing our strategy for growth.

It’s Only Common Sense: Reinvention Is a Fundamental Leadership Responsibility
03/02/2026 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common SenseIf you’re waiting until the numbers drop, the customers leave, or your competitors catch up before you reinvent your business practices, you’ve already lost. Reinvention is a fundamental leadership responsibility, and successful companies reinvent themselves before they have to. They see it not as a rescue mission, but as a rhythm: questioning, disrupting, and rebuilding before market forces force their hand. Leaders who change only when cornered are followers pretending to lead.

02/13/2026 | Michelle Te, I-Connect007This week, I’ve taken some extra time to better learn some video and photo editing software programs we use at I-Connect007. You’ll want to check out my LinkedIn video to see how I brought my avatar to life for this week’s must-reads! The items I’m highlighting this week are also about learning something new, from Pete Starkey’s thorough three-day review of the EIPC Winter Conference in Aix-en-Provence, France, to what’s on the horizon for advanced electronics packaging. I also share details about the new Design Village at APEX EXPO 2026, preview a new column from Remtec’s Chandra Gupta, and discuss why marketing isn’t a one-and-done deal.
EIPC Winter Conference 2026 Review: The Keynote Sessions
02/11/2026 | Pete Starkey, I-Connect007Aix-en-Provence (pronounced “ex-ahn-pro-vonse”), a historic city and commune in the south of France, about 20 miles north of Marseille, was the pleasant venue for EIPC’s Winter Conference in early February. Industry delegates from 11 European countries, as well as from the U.S. and China, gathered at the Renaissance Hotel for a two-day programme, “Driving the Future: Innovation, Energy, and Sustainability in PCB Technology.” An added attraction was a privileged visit to the ITER fusion power project at the Cadarache research and development centre.
Survey Says: Avnet's Insights Into How Engineers Are Adopting AI
02/09/2026 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007Avnet regularly surveys engineers to learn what they’re thinking. That sort of information is quite important to Alex Iuorio, vice president of supplier development at Avnet. In this interview, Alex talks about what he’s learned from the most recent survey and its implications to the supply market in 2026 and beyond. No surprise, AI plays a remarkably large role in all the current trends.
