EMS Installs Two Panasonic NPM-W2 Machines
December 11, 2018 | Electronic Manufacturing Solutions Ltd (EMS)Estimated reading time: 1 minute
Electronic Manufacturing Solutions Limited (EMS) has installed two new Panasonic NPM-W2 machines.
The NPM-W2 is the global leader in SMT capability, used in their hundreds to build mobile phone assemblies. As a result, they are very flexible placement machine capable of handling a large range of components down to 01005” and up to BGA, uBGA, QFN, CSP and large odd-form components in excess of 100 x 50mm.
Each machine is supplied with two heads, EMS has purchased:
- 1 off 16/16 nozzle head machine, with each head providing 16 nozzles with each picking from the front and rear of the machine.
- 1 off 8/8 nozzle head machine, with each head providing 8 nozzles with each picking from the front and rear of the machine. This machine includes a 20-stack direct tray feeder.
Together the two machines provide capacity for up 110,000 components per hour (CPH) and 213 different part numbers.
“I am very pleased with the investment in our two NPM-W2, the significant step change in additional capacity it brings along with its inherent reliability which we have seen from our existing CM101-D's and long history of Panasonic equipment, makes this machine an ideal choice and a critical investment in keeping pace with the increasing demand for our assembly services. This is another significant step in the company’s growth following on from the relocation earlier in the year”, said Bernard Chubb, Managing Director of EMS.
The machines incluce is supplied with a 20-slot direct tray feeder as well as a comprehensive range of tape and tube feeders providing a large placement capacity as well as exceptional production turnaround times.
“This will enable us not only to increase capacity dramatically, it also represents the completion of two machine lines which will allow us to switch work seamlessly from one line to the other without requiring additional programming, tooling etc. We look forward to being able to provide increased customer satisfaction through this additional resource whilst continuing with industry-leading turnaround times and exceptional levels of quality,” said EMS’ Sales Manager Rob Moore.
With a new Panasonic NPM-W2, EMS is again proving its commitment to an on-going investment strategy as it follows 6 months after relocation to our new facility and is part of a brand-new whole line installation.
