Murata Launches Ultra-thin, High Capacitance Supercapacitors
January 17, 2017 | Murata AmericasEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Murata Americas today introduced its DMH series, a new lineup of supercapacitors with a thickness of 0.4mm, a mF order capacitance, low ESR, and the capability to output instantaneous power. The product line delivers a solution to devices with limited space that are challenged by power consumption issues since its slim package can be mounted in underutilized space. Further, the DMH can enhance functionality and improve system operations when used in conjunction with limited power batteries.
By optimizing construction materials and structure, the first product in the DMH series was developed to provide 35mF, 4.5WV, and 300mΩ in a 20 x 20 x 0.4mm package. The potential applications are numerous: patch-type devices like mobile electrocardiograms and wound care machines; portable devices driven by coin cell batteries, such as smart watches, fitness trackers, and insulin pumps; smart cards; and e-tags and e-readers.
“Murata’s approach to innovation is based on a combination of increasing accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness, while fostering technology advancements. Our supercapacitors are solid proof of that. We continually strive to deliver solutions that overcome some of the most pressing design challenges that engineers face today,” said Austin Mori, Business Development Engineer, Murata Americas.
