Altus Gets Smart with Intelligent Big Data Solutions
November 20, 2018 | Altus GroupEstimated reading time: 1 minute
As manufacturers look towards improving production processes, Altus Group, a leading distributor of capital equipment in the UK and Ireland, is seeing a growing interest in big data solutions that provide predictive analytics.
Investment in smart technology is evident in all industries and was particularly apparent during Altus' attendance at the recent What's New in Electronics (WNIE) exhibition.
"While exhibiting at WNIE, the questions we were asked about the most was on big data solutions. Industry 4.0 is looming, and companies are looking to implement equipment and technology now to ensure they have the correct processes in place to keep production running as it should," said Joe Booth, Business Development and Marketing Manager at Altus.
"Big Data analytics allows companies to predict production processes giving manufacturers an insight into how they can advance procedures, increase scales of production and ultimately improve the bottom line.
"During WNIE, we presented Koh Young's KSMART solution. This software works with technologies that have 3D AOI and SPI capabilities and incorporates an 'Intelligent Platform', ensuring the highest level of connectivity for all the inspection stations, enhancing overall automation capability.
"Since showcasing its functionality at WNIE, the number of implementation projects to incorporate the KSMART software and improve production performance has rocketed. In fact, the demand in the KSMART solution is outstripping supply. Altus has already installed several of Koh Young's KSMART solutions across the UK and Ireland and there are more in the pipeline. Solutions addressing 'big data' are growing in interest and it doesn’t look like it will be slowing any time soon," concluded Joe.
Koh Young Technology's award-winning KSMART Solution by is entirely modular and offers maximum production efficiency and control for advanced electronics manufacturing. With miniaturisation on the increase, and more complex products being designed, flexibility and increased standards for equipment that must communicate in real time are important. KSMART comprises an easy-to-use toolbox designed to meet these challenges. It enables real-time analysis of defects, beginning with simply providing true 3D inspection data obtained from Koh Young's 3D inspection systems. This data is essential for finding root causes of defects and achieving process optimisation.
