Controltek Hires Engineering Business Manager Dennis Frey
December 7, 2018 | ControlTekEstimated reading time: 1 minute

Electronics manufacturing and design provider ControlTek has recently hired Dennis Frey as the company’s new engineering business manager.
Frey will be tasked with ensuring positive interactions between customers and the design team, ensuring timely communication throughout engagements and interacting internally with ControlTek’s design, manufacturing and program management teams to ensure projects are completed on time.
“What really sets ControlTek apart is their focus on quality,” Frey said. “Whether it's design, manufacturing, or test, each aspect of a project goes through rigorous processes to ensure all requirements and industry standards are met.
“This extends to the customer as well. I am excited for the opportunity to partner with them and with our internal teams to make sure that their goals and needs are met.”
Frey comes to ControlTek with over a decade of engineering and project management experience following a degree in Electrical Engineering from UC San Diego. His previous work experience has spanned both product design and project management roles within highly technical industries including transportation, semiconductor and mobile wireless.
Over the past 47 years, ControlTek has built a strong reputation in the EMS industry that’s characterized by a sharp focus on meeting customer needs. The Engineering Business Manager role is designed to continue growing partnerships with ControlTek’s engineering customers.
“We saw an opportunity to better meet customer needs with this new Engineering Business Manager role,” says ControlTek President Andy LaFrazia.
“Our commitment to constant improvement doesn’t stop with our manufacturing or design processes; it also means putting the right team in place to help us partner with customers. We believe Dennis is the right person to help us do that.”

Marcy’s Musings: The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection
05/16/2025 | Marcy LaRont -- Column: Marcy's MusingsFew things in this world are or will ever be perfect. For me, perfection might look like the vivid colors that only Mother Nature can create, the birth of a child, and the inner workings of the human brain. But all else in this physical, tangible world is, in one way or another, inherently flawed. Even the “flawless” diamond is more about the sheer awe and beauty of beholding near-perfection than perfection itself. In many ways, this truth provides great texture and diversity to our world. Yet, we still strive for perfection, and it’s in this that we learn and achieve higher heights than we otherwise would have.

05/16/2025 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007My picks for the week include—as a complement to the trade agreement news—SEMI's public support of a bill including new tax credit eligibility for semiconductor manufacturers. This provision feels quite similar to the current PCB investment bill that's been introduced to the current Congress; here’s hoping Congress takes a more holistic approach to electronics manufacturing.
