Altium Releases Designer 19
December 19, 2018 | PRWEBEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Altium LLC has launched Altium Designer 19, the latest version of the company's flagship PCB design software. Altium Designer 19 introduces new features that make designing complex, high-quality projects easier, faster, and more accurate from concept to production.
Altium Designer 18 took the PCB design experience to a new level by introducing a modern graphical user interface, multiboard functionality and a redesigned bill of materials (BOM) management system all built on 64-bit architecture. Altium Designer 19 expands on Altium Designer 18 with new and powerful design technologies that simplify the process of creating even the most complex designs and bring unparalleled unification to the schematic, layout, and post-design processes.
"Altium Designer 19 builds on the consistent performance and reliability improvements of previous versions with modern PCB design tools that are powerful, easy, and modern," said Sergey Kostinsky, Chief Technology Officer at Altium. "Altium Designer 19 users will also be able to access a convenient and connected design experience that keeps everyone in sync through seamless connectivity with Altium 365.”
Altium Designer 19 leverages new and powerful EDA technologies with a singular focus on elevating the user experience. New capabilities that accurately model high-density interconnect structures, give designers absolute confidence when manufacturing cutting edge high-density boards. An enhanced PCB materials library allows designers to create accurate impedance profiles for routing and manufacturing. The optimized component panel and part search allow parts to be found and placed in the design even if they are not already in the library, with the automated acquisition of supply chain as well as CAD data.
“Altium Designer 19 is yet another example of Altium’s investment into cutting-edge products that make design easy throughout the entire electrical engineering product development cycle,” says John Watson, senior PCB engineer at Legrand North America. “Altium has always been committed to the PCB designer, and this release is the latest example of how they’ve continued to consistently equip me with the tools I need as a designer to complete my projects.”

Marcy’s Musings: The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection
05/16/2025 | Marcy LaRont -- Column: Marcy's MusingsFew things in this world are or will ever be perfect. For me, perfection might look like the vivid colors that only Mother Nature can create, the birth of a child, and the inner workings of the human brain. But all else in this physical, tangible world is, in one way or another, inherently flawed. Even the “flawless” diamond is more about the sheer awe and beauty of beholding near-perfection than perfection itself. In many ways, this truth provides great texture and diversity to our world. Yet, we still strive for perfection, and it’s in this that we learn and achieve higher heights than we otherwise would have.

05/16/2025 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007My picks for the week include—as a complement to the trade agreement news—SEMI's public support of a bill including new tax credit eligibility for semiconductor manufacturers. This provision feels quite similar to the current PCB investment bill that's been introduced to the current Congress; here’s hoping Congress takes a more holistic approach to electronics manufacturing.
