Cadence Appoints Alinka Flaminia as Chief Legal Officer

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. announced the appointment of Alinka Flaminia as its senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. In this role, Flaminia will lead the company’s worldwide legal operations, including corporate social responsibility, compliance and government affairs and will report to Lip-Bu Tan, Cadence CEO. Flaminia succeeds Jim Cowie, senior vice president and general counsel.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Alinka Flaminia to our executive leadership team,” said Lip-Bu Tan, CEO of Cadence. “She is a seasoned professional with extensive experience and an outstanding track record leading the legal operations for top technology companies. Her broad skills and deep industry know-how will help us tremendously as we execute upon our Intelligent System Design strategy and enable our customers to accelerate their innovation.”
Tan continued, “Since joining Cadence in 2000, Jim Cowie has richly contributed to Cadence in several areas. His counsel and leadership contributed to the strong growth of our business, and his efforts spearheading employee advocacy programs fueled our high-performance culture. On behalf of Cadence, our Board of Directors and shareholders, I would like to thank Jim for his dedication and leadership.”
Ms. Flaminia joins Cadence from Mellanox Technologies, recently acquired by NVIDIA Corporation, where she served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to that, she served as general counsel and corporate secretary for PMC-Sierra and senior counsel for Xilinx. She also had a private legal practice for ten years where she represented several technology industry clients. Ms. Flaminia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law.
