Analytics is a given in this industry, but the threshold is changing. If you think you're too small to invest in analytics, you may need to reconsider. So how do you do analytics better? What are the new tools, and how do you get started?
Counterfeit Concerns
The distribution of counterfeit parts has become much more sophisticated in the past decade, and there's no reason to believe that trend is going to be stopping any time soon. What might crop up in the near future?
Solder Printing
In this issue, we turn a discerning eye to solder paste printing. As apertures shrink, and the requirement for multiple thicknesses of paste on the same board becomes more commonplace, consistently and accurately applying paste becomes ever more challenging.

Real Time with… SMTAI 2021 Audio Interviews Now Live
November 10, 2021 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The SMTA International 2021 Conference and Exhibition took place last week, and I-Connect007 was in Minneapolis, Minnesota to bring you coverage of this event, which was back in person this year. If you couldn't make it to the show, be sure to catch our audio interviews with the movers and shakers of the electronics industry.
The show floor at this year’s SMTAI is not as busy—or as expansive—as in past years, but most people in attendance seem pleased. Trade shows in general this year are drawing 30–50% of their previous attendance numbers; sources at SMTA report that early numbers are at or above the top end of that window and continuing to increase with a higher-than-average number of at-the-door registrations.
The Wednesday morning keynote by Loren McDonald of EVAdoption, titled “Are You Ready for the EV Revolution?” echoed what is becoming a familiar scene. It was standing room only and McDonald’s presentation on marketing electric vehicles got strong reviews from attendees.
Visit Real Time with… SMTAI 2021 to listen to some pre-show interviews and coverage right from the exhibition floor. We have 10 interviews with some the industry's top leaders, discussing everything from inspection systems and automation optimization, to conformal coating inspections and automated process control lines.
RealTime with... SMTAI 2021 is sponsored by EPTAC, CyberOptics, Koh Young Technology, and KYZEN.
