Altium's Nexar Teams with Ultra Librarian to Expand Component Data Coverage
November 18, 2021 | Altium LLCEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

Nexar, a business unit of Altium LLC, has announced that Ultra Librarian, the world’s largest cloud CAD library and marketplace, has joined Nexar’s ecosystem of electronic innovators. Nexar enables the integration of software applications and workflows across the end-to-end, PCB design-to-manufacturing (realization) process.
Ultra Librarian, part of the Accelerated Designs business unit at EMA Design Automation, is a web service with over 16 million free, ready-to-use CAD models. Ultra Librarian helps speed up the PCB design process by providing pre-built, verified, CAD models and reference designs. This intelligent CAD native data enables designers to save precious time, prevent errors, and drive their products from concept to reality on time and on budget.
“Ultra Librarian shares Altium’s vision of streamlining and improving the design process. Designers today have so many tasks and responsibilities. Our mission is to make sure the tedious process of accessing, creating, and managing CAD models is not one of them,” said Frank Frank, Product Architect and Founder at Ultra Librarian. “We look forward to collaborating with Nexar to create a first-class design experience through the integration of our CAD models into a unified workflow.”
The partnership will connect the component technical data, lifecycle status, and CAD models designers need, all in one place in their native eCAD platform.
“We are excited that Ultra Librarian has joined the Nexar community. In today’s supply-constrained environment, having access to more comprehensive CAD model libraries will help designers to ensure that their electronic products are producible,” stated Ted Pawela, Chief Ecosystem Officer of Altium and Head of Nexar. “Octopart, part of the Nexar ecosystem, will be the first to launch this capability as part of our vision to unify the design and component search experience in real-time and on the cloud.”
Octopart is part of Nexar, an Altium Business Unit that is transforming the electronics industry by uniting the ecosystem of companies that provide products and services related to the design and realization of electronics. Octopart, a cloud-enabled electronic part search engine, is powered by part data and intelligence from the Nexar API. For more information about Octopart, visit www.octopart.com. Ultra Librarian PCB CAD libraries will be available in December 2021 on Octopart.
