DuPont announced that Young Bae, Ph.D., has been elected to the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) Governing Council.
The SCC is a newly formed group that emerged from the SEMI Sustainability Initiative, and is the first global, ecosystem-wide effort to advance the semiconductor industry’s response to the challenge of climate change. DuPont joined the SCC as a founding member in November 2022.
The Consortium recently completed an election to determine its inaugural Governing Council, and DuPont’s Bae was elected alongside six other industry leaders, effective immediately. Council members will guide the SCC in achieving its mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the global semiconductor value chain, including setting priorities based on a member survey and forming working groups and their objectives.
Bae is the Global Business Director for Advanced Cleans Technologies in DuPont Electronics & Industrial. Advanced Cleans Technologies is a leader in specialty materials for precision cleaning and surface preparation in semiconductor fabrication processes, including front- and back-end-of-line wafer processes, packaging and assembly. Bae brings more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry in product development, technology leadership, account management, regional leadership, and business oversight to this role. He holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in chemistry and polymer science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He completed a postdoctorate in materials science and engineering at Cornell University.
“I am honored to serve on the Semiconductor Climate Consortium’s inaugural Governing Council and look forward to being actively involved in advancing the Consortium’s mission,” said Young Bae, Global Business Director, Advanced Cleans Technologies, DuPont Electronics & Industrial. “As a leading semiconductor materials supplier, DuPont can offer insights into the role of materials in the semiconductor value chain, and I am pleased to be able to bring this perspective as we collaboratively work to drive climate progress.”

Rapid and efficient heat transfer from power semiconductor chip packages is essential for achieving optimal performance and ensuring long-term reliability of temperature-sensitive components. This is particularly crucial in power systems that support advanced applications such as green energy generation, electric vehicles, aerospace, and defense, along with high-speed computing for data centers and artificial intelligence (AI).
Is Glass Finally Coming of Age?
10/13/2025 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007Substrates, by definition, form the base of all electronic devices. Whether discussing silicon wafers for semiconductors, glass-and-epoxy materials in printed circuits, or the base of choice for interposers, all these materials function as substrates. While other substrates have come and gone, silicon and FR-4 have remained the de facto standards for the industry.

Jiva Leading the Charge Toward Sustainable Innovation
09/30/2025 | Marcy LaRont, PCB007 MagazineEnvironmental sustainability in business—product circularity—is a high priority these days. “Circularity,” the term meant to replace “recycling,” in its simplest definition, describes a full circle life for electronic products and all their elements. The result is re-use or a near-complete reintroduction of the base materials back into the supply chain, leaving very little left for waste. For what cannot be reused productively, the ultimate hope is to have better, less harmful means of disposal and/or materials that can seamlessly and harmlessly decompose and integrate back into the natural environment. That is where Jiva and Soluboard come in.
