Getting today’s designs “right the first time” is critical, especially with costly advanced PCBs. Simulation and analysis software tools can help you in the fight to eliminate respins. They’re not magical, but they can predict the future of your design. And if you’re designing high-performance, high-speed boards without using these tools, you may very well be on your way to respins.
As we learn in this month’s issue of Design007 Magazine, AI is already making inroads into the design cycle—and learning from its successes and missteps. Today’s simulation tools are now benefiting from machine learning and artificial intelligence. It’s rarely the complexity of the circuit, the last-minute changes from mechanical, the limited enclosure space, or the ever-expanding list of design rules that send projects to the dust heap of failed boards. More often, it's our own decisions, made too quickly and narrowly, and with too little foresight, that sabotage an otherwise good design.
