Vuzix Completes Delivery to Tier-1 Aerospace and Defense Firm
November 6, 2023 | PRNewswireEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
Vuzix Corporation, a leading supplier of smart glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technology and products, announced it has completed delivery against a follow-on order from a Tier-1 aerospace and defense contractors with which it has been working with. The Company expects to receive additional orders in subsequent phases with this partner.
Vuzix has delivered a customized waveguide-based optics engine that is intended to be used in head worn systems designed for aerospace applications. These customized waveguide-based engine prototypes offer a high brightness, high index waveguide design with a wide FOV (field-of-view) for a variety of field operational conditions.
"We are working closely with many of the world's leading aerospace and defense firms on projects that can provide significant deployment and thus revenue opportunities for Vuzix," said Paul Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix. "We will continue to develop and refine the waveguide and display engine technologies that these contractors need for their next-generation solutions as we move closer to final production rollouts."

Beyond Design: Electro-optical Circuit Boards
01/22/2025 | Barry Olney -- Column: Beyond DesignPredicting the role of PCB designers in 10 years is a challenge. If only I had a crystal ball. However, we know that as technology progresses, the limitations of copper PCBs are increasingly apparent, particularly regarding speed, bandwidth, and signal integrity. Innovations such as optical interconnects and photonic integrated circuits are setting the stage for the next generation of PCBs, delivering higher performance and efficiency. The future of PCB design will probably incorporate these new technologies to address the challenges of traditional copper-based designs.
