This month, we delve into rules of thumb—which ones work, which ones should be avoided. Rules of thumb are everywhere, but there may be hundreds of rules of thumb for PCB design. How do we separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak?
Partial HDI
Our expert contributors provide a complete, detailed view of partial HDI this month. Most experienced PCB designers can start using this approach right away, but you need to know these tips, tricks and techniques first.
Silicon to Systems: From Soup to Nuts
This month, we asked our expert contributors to weigh in on silicon to systems—what it means to PCB designers and design engineers, EDA companies, and the rest of the PCB supply chain... from soup to nuts.

Happy Thanksgiving From the I-Connect007 Team
November 23, 2023 | I-Connect007Estimated reading time: Less than a minute
As we each take a moment to enjoy life and reflect on the goodness in our lives today, everyone here at I-Connect007 wishes you and yours a Thanksgiving full of family, friends, and lots of delicious carb-laden food. Today, we are also thankful our readers, our columnists and contributors, and our team members.
Here are a few fun facts about this very American holiday:
- The first Thanksgiving was a celebration with the Wampanoag tribe, to give thanks for a bountiful harvest. It lasted three days, and turkey was not on the menu.
- President Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving a national holiday, but the annual presidential pardon of the Thanksgiving turkey began under President George H. W. Bush.
- The song “Jingle Bells” was actually intended to be a Thanksgiving song.
- Canada also celebrates Thanksgiving, but in October.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving From the I-Connect007 Team
11/25/2021 | I-Connect007In the United States, the Thanksgiving holiday is a celebration of gratitude and appreciation for the harvest and for the people close to us. Thankfulness, however, transcends just one day of official observance. The fourth Thursday of November is when the U.S. officially celebrates Thanksgiving Day and as we take time to observe this holiday, the I-Connect007 team wishes to offer our thanks to you, our global readers and contributors: designers, fabricators, engineers, assemblers, quality and process control gurus, chemists, physicists, supervisors, managers, entrepreneurs, business owners, standards writers, industry experts, and more. You breathe life into the vital, thriving, world-changing electronics industry. You are the real story.
It’s Only Common Sense: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
12/07/2020 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common SenseAs we do every year on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving, my family gathers to watch the old classic “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” starring Steve Martin and John Candy. Just like we do every year, we all end up shouting ideas and suggestions at the characters, encouraging better choices. This movie came out in the late ‘80s, and it is stunning to realize today how many things have changed since then. Most notably, there have been changes in terms of technology, services, and travel. Just think if they’d had cellphones. Their lives would have been so much easier.
