QinetiQ Announces Formation of "Team TECSA" to Strengthen Australia's Sovereign Defence Capabilities
September 13, 2024 | QinetiQEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
QinetiQ has formed "Team TECSA," a collaborative initiative bringing together Australian industry and academia in response to the government’s National Defence Strategy and Defence Industry Development Strategy. The Defence Industry Development Strategy has identified Test and Evaluation, Certification and Systems Assurance (TECSA) as one of the Sovereign Defence Industrial Priorities.
The National Defence Strategy calls for an "all of nation" response to meet Australia's defence needs.
Through Team TECSA, QinetiQ is providing leadership to unify Australian industry and academia to build the workforce and infrastructure necessary to rapidly enhance Australia's defence capabilities.
This monumental task is beyond the capacity of any single company, making collaboration essential. By combining the strengths and expertise of industry members and academic institutions, Team TECSA aims to build a capable, resilient, and sustainable defence industry that meets Australia's needs.
Current members of the QinetiQ-led Team TECSA include:
Team TECSA partners
Team TECSA invites all Australian industry and academia to contribute and collaborate within this sovereign T&E team. Each member has made significant investments to advance Australia’s defence T&E capabilities. Notably, QinetiQ has invested over $100 million in Australia over the last three years to build sovereign capabilities.
Gary Stewart, Chief Executive – Australia Sector, QinetiQ said:
We are excited to lead the formation of Team TECSA and unite the incredible talents and resources within Australian industry and academia. As a leading member of Team TECSA, QinetiQ will continue to invest in its capabilities in Australia.
The Sovereign Defence Industrial Priority for Test and Evaluation identified a shortage of 400 qualified test and evaluation personnel in Australia in 2024, growing to 1,000 in 2030. Collaboration between industry and the academic institutions in Team TECSA will help Australia build the capacity to upskill and grow this workforce.
Team TECSA is committed to growing sovereign Australian capabilities, with an Australian workforce, working on advancing our national interest together.
