Saab will deliver Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) Models to ECS Federal as part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Maven Program.
Saab’s Near Real Time (NRT) Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning models will be used by the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and the Department of Defense to support live missions and augment human analysis. Saab’s models will ultimately deliver maximum performance in accuracy and flexibility with minimal processing delay. The contract will be executed by Saab’s new technology accelerator, Skapa by Saab.
“Saab is quickly expanding our presence and expertise in the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning space, helping accelerate the development and deployment of technologies and solutions for a wide range of stakeholders,” said Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab in the U.S. “We are thrilled to be the first new computer vision vendor brought on for the Maven Program and this work will enable Saab to move at pace to solve global challenges and deliver needed capabilities to our customers.”
DoD’s Maven Program is an AI system designed to process imagery and full-motion video from drones and automatically detect potential targets. The Maven Program uses machine learning to identify personnel and equipment, streamlining a process once carried out only by human analysts.
Saab’s work on AI / ML includes contracts with California Air National Guard for wildfire tracking, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to modernize the stability and control of surface vessels, and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) to increase battlespace situational awareness by automatically detecting and characterizing threats in complex environments.
