I-Connect007 Editor’s Choice: Five Must-Reads for the Week
November 29, 2024 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
I try to avoid discussing the weather or the changing of the seasons when introducing my must-reads. But on any news broadcast, you’ll always find both weather and sports. Sometimes we just have to include those here, you know? Well, now I’ve included both words in my summary, I can move on.
If you’re in the U.S. today, odds are you’re at home enjoying the aftermath of a Thanksgiving holiday meal. Let me just say that whether you had a Thanksgiving holiday surrounded by family, friends, or both, I hope it was joyous. If you know someone who doesn’t have friends or family with whom to share this time, please reach out and include them. Chronic loneliness can exact a measurable toll on our mental and physical health. Wherever you are on the globe this holiday season, I encourage you to reach out to someone who might be battling loneliness and connect. It will make a difference to them. Not only will it help get you in the mood for your winter holiday of choice, but it’ll be good for your mental health as well.

Published November 25
After reading this report, “subdued” seems the perfect description. It’s not all bad news, though IPC chief economist Shawn DuBravac points out that there are concerns and optimism simultaneously. Read more here.

Don Ball: It’s Never Felt Like ‘Work’
12/01/2025 |For the November issue of PCB007 Magazine, I was sent a list of questions that would highlight my personality and career. If you’ve read my previous columns, you know I am not reluctant to talk about myself, so here it goes. In my freshman year, inspired by the 1960 Olympics in Rome, I decided to try out for the track team. Of course, I wanted to attain glory as a sprinter, but this turned out to be a less-than-optimal pursuit, and I gradually moved up in distance to become a miler.
I-Connect007 Editor’s Choice: Five Must-Reads for the Week
11/28/2025 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007Yesterday was the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. The traditional meal is, of course, roast turkey with “all the trimmings.” Although not everyone observes that menu, most do, and it was reported that 42 million turkeys were consumed on that day. With an average weight of 16 pounds per turkey, we cooked up 672 million pounds! With approximately 342 million people in the U.S, that pencils out to just under two pounds of drumstick and white meat per person. That, my friends, is a whole lot of leftovers.

11/21/2025 | Michelle Te, I-Connect007Were you one of the lucky ones who made it to Europe’s largest electronics trade show this week? By all accounts, this massive event was buzzing with new technologies, packed booths, and plenty of tired feet by the end of each day. So, if you’re heading home from productronica (or, like me, just enjoying the end of a busy week), now’s the perfect time to unwind a bit. Settle into that airplane seat (or office chair), grab a snack, and catch up on some great reads from I-Connect007.

I-Connect007 Editor’s Choice: Five Must-Reads for the Week
11/14/2025 | Nolan Johnson, I-Connect007I read an interesting article this week about a breakthrough on building microprocessors to run on microwaves rather than traditional digital circuitry. It cites an academic study that begins, “The development of high-bandwidth applications, including multi-gigabit communication and radar imaging, demands faster processing. However, in the microwave regime, where frequencies exceed clock rates, sampling and computation become challenging. Here we report an integrated microwave neural network for broadband computation and communication.”
