eBots Inc, a pioneer in embodied AI robots for smart manufacturing, today announced that its embodied AI robot, the eBots-IDO-02, has successfully passed the factory acceptance test (FAT) conducted by Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group). This milestone accelerates the shift from labor-intensive electronics manufacturing to full automation.
Strategic Partnership Established in 2023
In 2023, following the principles of resource sharing, mutual benefit, and growth, eBots and Foxconn signed a collaboration agreement focusing on key challenges in smart manufacturing that are beyond the reach of the industrial robots. Leveraging the "Foxconn Accelerator Program,” this partnership evolved from technical development to comprehensive business collaboration, building a sustainable and mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
Breakthrough Achieved During Acceptance Test
During the factory acceptance process (FAT), the eBots-IDO-02 robot excelled in complex precision assembly tasks, exhibiting outstanding reliability, achieving a 99.5% production yield on Foxconn’s high-end electronics line. Additionally, the output of a single eBots-IDO-02 robot was equivalent to four workers on the mass production line, significantly boosting productivity while mitigating the risks of workforce availability. “Such tasks would typically require human operators due to their complexity and precision. Our results showcase breakthroughs in adaptive precision tasks, overcoming an industry-wide challenge in smart manufacturing,” said Dr. Zheng Xu, co-founder and CEO of eBots. “This FAT represents a major achievement in the strategic partnership between the two companies in smart manufacturing,” emphasized the Automation Technology Center of Foxconn's Smart Manufacturing Platform.
Prospects for Collaboration
Foxconn's Smart Manufacturing Platform played a critical role in the success of FAT, by providing various application scenarios, technical support, and resource guarantees. Leveraging its technological expertise, eBots swiftly installed the eBots-IDO-02 in the factory and dispatched a team of experts for on-site technical support. Looking ahead, Foxconn and eBots plan to explore innovative AI technologies to meet smart manufacturing challenges.
