Zephyr Project Expands Ecosystem with Silicon Labs Upgrading to Platinum Membership and New Silver Members
August 25, 2025 | PRNewswireEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
The Zephyr® Project announced that Silicon Labs has upgraded membership to Platinum as Beningo Embedded Group, Raytac and Tenstorrent join as Silver members. Zephyr, an open source project at the Linux Foundation that builds a secure, connected and flexible RTOS for future-proof and resource-constrained devices, is easy to deploy and manage. It is a proven RTOS ecosystem created by developers for developers.
"Zephyr's growth shows the impact of open collaboration in building secure, dependable systems," said Kate Stewart, Vice President of Dependable Embedded Systems at the Linux Foundation. "As the industry prepares for the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and similar initiatives, Zephyr RTOS is not only helping developers stay ahead on security and compliance but also expanding its ecosystem to support the next generation of safe, innovative embedded products."
The Ecosystem Expands
Silicon Labs, which joined the Zephyr Project in January 2022, is a leading global innovator in low-power wireless connectivity, building embedded technology that connects devices and improves lives. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Silicon Labs has operations in over 16 countries and is a partner for innovative solutions in the smart home, industrial IoT, and smart cities markets.
"Real-time operating systems like Zephyr are essential to extending the intelligence from the cloud to the IoT edge," said Daniel Cooley, Chief Technology Officer at Silicon Labs. "We are excited to join the Zephyr Project to drive this initiative forward to accelerate the growth of the IoT."
Abitzen Xavier, Staff Product Manager, Proprietary and Z-Wave, at Silicon Labs, will join the Governing Board with other Platinum members including Analog Devices, Antmicro, CARIAD, Google, Intel, Meta, Nordic Semiconductor, NXP, Oticon, Qualcomm Innovation Center, Renesas, Wind River and ZEISS.
Beningo Embedded Group is a global leader in modernizing embedded software development practices. The company empowers engineering teams to deliver faster, smarter firmware through consulting, training, and its Embedded Software Academy.
"Zephyr RTOS is transforming how embedded teams build connected, secure, and future-ready systems," Jacob Beningo, CEO at Beningo Embedded Group. "At Beningo Embedded Group, we see developers struggling with outdated tools and processes, and Zephyr provides a modern foundation to overcome those challenges. We're excited to contribute to this community and help ensure that the next generation of embedded products are not only reliable and secure but also delivered faster than ever before."
Raytac brings together RF experts and global engineers to deliver innovation by extending beyond today's Bluetooth, WiFi, and LoRa solutions.
"At Raytac, we don't just make modules; we ignite possibilities," said Tony Yin, Business Development Manager at Raytac. "Every breakthrough idea deserves to take off without being slowed by RF design headaches or certification roadblocks. That's why our fully certified modules bring Zephyr RTOS to life in the most effortless way: truly plug-and-play. With Raytac, developers can skip the guesswork and jump straight into building. From concept to production-ready reality, we're here to make sure your innovation launches faster and stronger and are excited to do this with the Zephyr Project."
Tenstorrent brings together experts in computer architecture, ASIC design, advanced systems, and neural network compilers to build the next generation of computing.
"Zephyr's ecosystem of modules was the advantage that Tenstorrent needed during the creation of Blackhole,™ our latest product," said Chris Friedt, Senior Staff Engineer, Systems at Tenstorrent. "Relying on Zephyr's kernel, support for RISC-V, ARM, and ARC architectures, hardware model, and bootloader allowed us to focus on the tasks necessary for system and device management firmware. Additionally, by leveraging West and Twister, we were able to tackle hardware-in-the-loop testing with ease, with convenient frameworks such as ZTest and PyTest. Tenstorrent looks forward to leveraging Zephyr for our future products!
These new members join Ac6, Alif Semiconductor, Arduino, Arm, Baumer, BayLibre, Blecon, Blues, Doulos, Embient, Ezurio, Golioth, Honday, Hubble Network, IAR, Infineon, inovex, IRNAS, Linaro, Memfault, Microchip Technology, MicroEJ, Percepio, Qt Group, STMicroelectronics, Synopsys and Texas Instruments as Silver members.
