Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

ICTC Joins SMTA to Advance Collaboration, Knowledge Sharing, and Electronics Manufacturing Excellence
January 22, 2026 | ICTCEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Interconnect Cable Technologies Corporation (ICTC), a global contract manufacturer specializing in high-reliability electronic assemblies, cable and wire harnesses, PCB assemblies, and turnkey box builds, is proud to announce its new membership in the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA).
SMTA is an international network of professionals and companies dedicated to advancing electronics manufacturing through education, technical resources, collaborative events, and practical knowledge exchange. Its mission is to empower industry practitioners from design and component manufacturing to system integration and process engineering with the skills, insights, and connections needed to address real-world challenges and accelerate innovation.
Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Brooksville, Florida, ICTC has built a reputation for delivering precision manufacturing solutions with a global footprint. The company delivers end-to-end contract manufacturing solutions, including:
- Cable & Wire Harness Assemblies for aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, and transportation applications.
- Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) services with surface-mount, through-hole, and mixed technology production, backed by rigorous inspection and testing processes.
- Turnkey Electronic Box Builds, providing complete integration of wiring, interconnects, PCBs, and mechanical assemblies.
- Global Supply Chain Management, leveraging a hybrid model that balances U.S.-based precision with trusted international operations in the Philippines and China to optimize cost, lead times, and quality.
“SMTA is where meaningful technical conversations happen,” said Rob Ogilbee, CFO ICTC USA. “Joining this community gives us the opportunity to share what we’ve learned, learn from others, and stay closely connected to where electronics manufacturing is headed.”
By joining SMTA, ICTC now participates in a community that fosters open technical dialogue and collaboration across the electronics manufacturing ecosystem. SMTA membership offers access to exclusive training, conferences, regional events, networking forums, and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange that drive industry innovation and elevate professional expertise.
ICTC maintains recognized industry certifications, including AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, and compliance with UL, IPC/WHMA-A-620, ITAR, and RoHS standards.
