Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Seaward Automation Announces Command™ Collaboration with Robosys
April 8, 2026 | Seaward AutomationEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Seaward Automation, in partnership with Robosys Automation, announced the launch of enhanced functionality for its Command™ software platform at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, introducing integrated Remote Command and Autonomous Navigation capabilities powered by Robosys Automation’s VOYAGER AI.
Command™ delivers a single, intuitive interface for complete vessel operations, presenting all critical onboard systems in real time. With this latest release, the platform now incorporates intelligent navigation and remote operational capability – marking a significant step toward fully connected and increasingly autonomous vessel control.
A Unified Platform for Control and Navigation
Designed for both OEM integration and retrofit applications, Command™ ensures seamless deployment across a wide range of vessels – from recreational craft to sports fishing boats.
By integrating Robosys VOYAGER AI as its embedded autonomy engine, Seaward Command™ now combines real-time monitoring of all critical vessel systems, centralized command and control functionality, Intelligent navigation and guidance, together with remote operational capability from off-vessel locations.
This delivers a single-view experience, simplifying vessel management while enhancing operator awareness and control both onboard and remotely.
Integrated Remote Command and Autonomous Navigation
The enhanced Command™ platform introduces an Onboard and Remote Command functionality. It also enables Autonomous Track and Route Follow, allowing vessels to execute planned routes with precision, with Command™ delivering seamless coordination between onboard systems and navigation intelligence.
Robosys VOYAGER AI operates as a fully integrated software integration within Command™, enabling advanced autonomy and remote decision-making without adding complexity to the user interface.
The Pathway to Fully Autonomous Operations
This release represents the first stage in a broader autonomy roadmap for Seaward Automation. Future developments are expected to include Autonomous Collision Avoidance, Obstacle Detection and Avoidance, Anti-Grounding Protection, Enhanced Remote Helm control capabilities, and Station Keeping and Dynamic Positioning functionality.
Together, these capabilities position Command™ as a future-ready platform designed to evolve toward fully autonomous vessel operation, while maintaining intuitive human oversight.
“Robosys’ VOYAGER AI software is a highly beneficial addition to Seaward’s software stack,” said John Digertt, CEO, of Seaward Automation. “Our Command™ product line is focused on complete vessel control, and by adding autonomous guidance and navigation alongside remote operational capability, we can offer a truly comprehensive vessel operation platform.”
Aditya Nawab, CEO of Robosys Automation comments: “We are delighted to partner with Seaward Automation. By integrating VOYAGER AI within Command™, we are enabling intelligent navigation and remote vessel operation to be delivered through a seamless, unified intuitive interface -bringing advanced autonomy into practical, real-world use.”
The enhanced Command™ platform is being showcased at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, where attendees can experience understand how unified vessel control, intelligent navigation, and remote operational capability are transforming marine operations.
