The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced global semiconductor sales were $120.6 billion during the month of May 2026, an increase of 9.2% compared to the April 2026 total of $110.5 billion and 104.1% more than the May 2025 total of $59.1 billion. Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.
“The global semiconductor market continued to grow substantially in May, hitting the highest-ever recorded monthly sales total and increasing on a month-to-month basis for the 15th consecutive month in May,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “Sales growth continues to be driven by strong year-to-year growth in the Americas, the Asia-Pacific region, and China.”
Regionally, year-to-year sales in April were up in the Americas (132.2%), Asia Pacific/All Other (118.9%), China (88.8%), Europe (60.7%), and Japan (23.8%). Month-to-month sales increased in China (10.7%), Asia Pacific/All Other (9.2%), the Americas (8.6%), Europe (7.3%), and Japan (6.4%).
