Powering the Future: What Engineers Get Wrong About Designing for Reliability
Micro-Precision Technologies (MPT), a U.S. manufacturer of high-reliability microelectronics for defense and aerospace applications, announced the appointment of Kevin Kendrick as Vice President of Sales. Kendrick will report to Chief Executive Officer Martin Stensgaard and lead MPT’s sales growth strategy, with an emphasis on expanding the company’s hybrid microelectronics business and supporting customers facing increasingly complex obsolescence, lifecycle and modernization challenges.
“Kevin brings a rare combination of semiconductor, advanced packaging, manufacturing and commercial experience,” said Martin Stensgaard. “He understands both the technical realities of sustaining legacy defense electronics and the opportunity created as the industry moves toward more modular, open-system architectures. That perspective is a strong fit for where MPT is headed.”
Kendrick joins MPT with broad experience across semiconductor packaging, microelectronics manufacturing, materials and business development. His career has included leadership and technical roles with Teledyne, Micross Components, Engent, H.B. Fuller and AdTech, along with ownership of two companies. He has also engineered advanced semiconductor packaging solutions and has been active in the electronics industry through organizations including IMAPS and SMTA. Kendrick previously served as president of the Central Texas Electronics Association and participated in SMTA’s Chapter Leadership Committee.
“MPT is a gem,” Kendrick said. “The company has the technical depth, manufacturing flexibility and customer focus to solve problems that many larger organizations simply are not structured to address. Our opportunity is to help defense and aerospace customers keep critical legacy systems supportable while also designing modernization paths that reduce the next generation of obsolescence risk.”
That approach is central to MPT’s market strategy. The company supports customers requiring hermetically sealed packages, high-reliability microelectronics, including thick-film and PCB based hybrids, and related packaging solutions. As defense programs confront disappearing semiconductor sources and long platform lifecycles, MPT can help recreate obsolete functionality, redesign at the module level and support migration toward Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) architectures.
“For me, the objective is straightforward,” Kendrick added. “Build it today so it can be rebuilt tomorrow without the military program skipping a beat.”
MPT also recently achieved Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2 following an independent C3PAO assessment, earning a perfect 110 out of 110 score. The certification strengthens the company’s position as a trusted manufacturing partner for defense programs requiring both technical capability and disciplined protection of controlled unclassified information.
Kendrick will focus initially on expanding strategic customer relationships, strengthening MPT’s manufacturers’ representative network, improving commercial systems and CRM system robustness, and building a targeted growth strategy around high-value defense, aerospace and space opportunities.
