Micross Components, a leading provider of high-reliability microelectronics for aerospace, defense, and space, has achieved MIL-PRF-38534 Class K qualification from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime for its Apopka, Florida, facility. Class K is the highest quality level for hybrid microcircuits and is required for space applications. The facility already held Class H qualification and now supports both levels.
Combined with its existing Class H and MIL-PRF-38535 Class Q & V qualifications for monolithic microcircuits, Micross is among a select group of manufacturers qualified for military and space-grade single-chip and multi-chip hybrid microcircuits. It also establishes Micross as a U.S. domestic source for the fast-growing space and missile defense markets.
"Class K qualification reflects years of investment in our people, processes, and capabilities. Our customers are building systems where failure isn't an option, and they need a domestic partner they can count on. This qualification tells them Micross is that partner." said Jim Cannon, President and CEO of Micross.
The qualification strengthens supply chains for mission-critical components that protect lives and livelihoods. All production runs under Micross' ITAR-registered, AS9100D-certified operations. This gives defense and space programs a secure, fully domestic path from design through qualified hardware.
The Apopka, FL facility has capacity for increased demand. It spans 85,000 square feet and includes 5,000 square feet of [ISO Class 5] cleanroom space for hybrid assembly, test, and screening.
"Demand for space-grade and missile defense electronics is accelerating, and Apopka is ready for it. We have the capacity, the qualified processes, and the team to scale with our customers' programs." said Chris Long, President, Micross North America.
