Yamaha to Bring Technologies at Productronica 2015
September 28, 2015 | Yamaha Motor IMEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Yamaha Motor Intelligent Machines’ booth, 323 in hall A3 at Productronica this November, will spotlight solutions to boost surface-mount productivity and quality, including game-changing AOI, innovative new feeders, and the latest print, placement and inspection platforms in Yamaha’s connected full-line solution.
In addition, Yamaha will bring technologies from its robotics division to Productronica for the first time, unleashing the power of programmable automation and Industry 4.0 in electronics assembly.
Launching at the show, new 3D and 2D 5Mpixel optical inspection systems have a wide field of view and make Yamaha's class-leading AOI more affordable than ever, while delivering ease of use, high speed and accuracy. As with the successful 12Mpixel 3D YSi-V system, the new configurations feature Yamaha’s ingenious multi-angle inspection that sees details other systems can miss, as well as laser height and coplanarity measurement to pinpoint problems with leads or underside terminations.
Also making its public debut is Yamaha’s latest feeder Automatic Loading Feeder, which banishes the time-consuming task of peeling back cover tape when loading a new component reel. This not only enables faster and easier reel changes, but also eliminates dust and static-electric effects thereby ensuring components remain correctly oriented in the tape.
On the booth, a YCP10 compact full-featured printer, two YSM20 high-efficiency modular 90,000 CPH mounters and a YSi-V inspection system will demonstrate their individual performance credentials, while also highlighting the advantages of Yamaha’s connected full-line solution. These include rich data communication between machines, and closed-loop diagnostic feedback with the option to send updates directly to the supervisor’s mobile.
Visitors will also see the high-end YSP printer, the advanced high-speed Sigma G5S mounter, the YSi-X high-speed 3D X-ray system featuring high-accuracy, low-power laminography, the YSD dispenser for solder paste or adhesive and YS12F flexible economy 20,000 CPH mounter.
Yamaha Total Line Solution
Bringing Industry-Leading Robotics to Electronics Assembly:
In an exciting new dimension to the show, Yamaha will demonstrate a number of robotics technologies that are directly applicable to electronic assembly challenges. Drawing on the pre-eminence of its robotics division, which has one of the largest portfolios for industrial automation, Yamaha is uniquely positioned to bring the flexibility and speed of robotic technologies to the electronic production line. Yamaha’s experts will be on hand to show how forward-looking OEMs and CEMs can harness the power of robotics to drive quality and productivity to new heights.
All this is waiting for Productronica visitors on booth 323 hall A3, at Messe München, November 10-13, 2015.
About Yamaha Motor IM
Yamaha Motor IM is a subdivision of Yamaha Motor Corporation. Yamaha IM surface mounters are highly acclaimed in the market for their “module concept” that enables them to keep pace with the trend toward smaller and more diverse electric/electronic parts being mounted on circuit boards.
Yamaha Motor IM has created a strong business in the surface mounter industry that enables design and engineering, manufacture, sales and service to be conducted in one comprehensive system. Furthermore, the Company has used its core technologies in the areas of servo-motor control and image recognition technology for vision (camera) systems to develop solder paste printers, printed circuit board inspection machines, flip chip hybrid placers and dispensers. This allows Yamaha Motor IM to offer a full line of machines for electric/electronic parts mounting and propose optimum production-line makeup to answer the diversifying needs of today’s manufacturers.

Connect the Dots: Designing for Reality—The Pre-Manufacturing Process
05/08/2024 | Matt Stevenson -- Column: Connect the DotsI have been working with Nolan Johnson on a podcast series about designing PCBs for the reality of manufacturing. By sharing lessons learned over a long career in the PCB industry, we hope to shorten learning curves and help designers produce better boards with less hassle and rework. Episode 2 deals with the electronic pre-manufacturing process. Moving from CAD (computer-aided design) to CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) is a key step in PCB manufacturing. CAM turns digital designs into instructions that machines can use to actually build the PCB.
