Current IssueInner Layer Precision & Yields
In this issue, we examine the critical nature of building precisions into your inner layers and assessing their pass/fail status as early as possible. Whether it’s using automation to cut down on handling issues, identifying defects earlier, or replacing an old line...
Engineering Economics
The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

NOTE Grows Further Within Medtech
January 25, 2021 | NOTEEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
NOTE has begun cooperation in electronics manufacturing with a well-established large international medtech company, a leader in its field. Batch production will begin during the first half of 2021 at NOTE's plant in Estonia. The potential in the collaboration is significant and sales are estimated to amount to approximately SEK 85 million on an annual basis. The conditions are good that the collaboration will develop into NOTE's largest in medtech.
“Our business continues to develop strongly, and we win new customers and projects in a convincing way. It is also gratifying that our investment in medtech, where, among other things, high quality requirements are set, achieves continued success. We are very proud of this new collaboration with a world-leading player in its field,” says Johannes Lind-Widestam, CEO and President.

The Path Ahead: SMT007 Magazine—January 2025
01/02/2025 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamJanuary is a traditional time to mark changes in our lives. A new year can signal new beginnings. But change is constant. So, as we flip over the calendar into 2025, we look at what’s ahead for the EMS supplier industry. What are your concerns and challenges? What trends are emerging? What can we expect from a new administration?
Flex PCB Design Best Practices with Dave Lackey
12/04/2024 | Brittany Martin, I-Connect007David Lackey, a flex circuit expert at American Standard Circuits, speaks about the advantages and challenges of designing with flexible and rigid-flex PCBs. He also discusses how consulting before the design phase can save time and costs by avoiding manufacturing issues and highlights the reliability and packaging benefits of flex technology, especially for compact designs in sectors like aerospace.
Calculating PCB Complexity and First-pass Yields
12/03/2024 | Happy Holden, I-Connect007There are three things I know mathematically about PCB yields: Defects that produce low yields may be systemic and repeatable, while others may be random (but you can test for this); you can predict yields if you take the time to collect the data; and yields are such wonderful things, so we should write about them more.
I-Connect007 Editor’s Choice: Five Must-Reads for the Week
09/13/2024 | Marcy LaRont, PCB007 MagazineAt the top of my list is “Silicon to Systems,” an interview with technology experts from IPC: Matt Kelly, Devan Iyer, and Kris Moyer. Also, this week, we hear from I-Connect007 Managing Editor Nolan Johnson, who’s been in Mexico for SMTA Guadalajara. Speaking of Mexico, I want to highlight an interview that appeared in IPC Community between Lorena Villanueva and Barjouth Aguilar of Flex, who talk about the importance of sustainability. I wrap up my recommendations with articles about solder printing and wet process control.

07/04/2024 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: Dan's Biz BookshelfI have been doing a lot of reading, thinking, and writing about the so-called labor shortage, not only in our industry but the world as a whole. So, when I saw this book by our own industry’s Dr. John W. Mitchell, I had to read it. I’ll say it right here: You should read it too.
