Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.

Exploring Chips, Pursuing Dreams: Summer Study Camp Concluded Successfully
October 2, 2025 | SPEAEstimated reading time: 1 minute
In August, a group of energetic young students visited the SPEA Suzhou office for a study camp. Co-hosted by SPEA and the Suzhou Industrial Park Women Entrepreneurs Association (SIPWEA), the ‘Exploring Chips, Pursuing Dreams’ camp officially kicked off, offering more than 10 middle and high school students an immersive journey into the world of automated testing technology.
In the reception hall, SPEA representatives gave an in-depth presentation on the company’s groundbreaking innovations and achievements in automated testing. They connected these advancements to cutting-edge applications – including MEMS sensors, power semiconductors, 5G communication, and new energy vehicles – vividly demonstrating how “technology lights up a better life.”
A tour of the company’s cultural corridor showcased SPEA’s founding story, corporate culture, and social responsibility, giving students a direct glimpse into the mission of a global technology leader.
Engineers began with relatable, everyday examples to explain the theory behind electronic components like resistors and capacitors. They then guided the students in building simple circuit toys, transforming abstract theory into a tangible learning experience. This hands-on activity gave the students a profound understanding of the ingenious applications of integrated circuits in daily life.
Guided by senior engineers, the students toured SPEA’s testing lab to get a hands-on look at world-leading equipment. They explored precision measurement with flying probe testers, grasped sensor principles using MEMS testing devices, and experienced the full process of verifying power semiconductor performance. This made automated testing a tangible engineering practice, igniting the students’ passion for exploration.
As the event concluded, Yuanli Sun, General Manager of SPEA Suzhou, shared her insights with the students and personally presented them with certificates of completion. Symbolizing both practical experience and thoughtful learning, these certificates represent seeds of innovation planted in young minds, destined to grow throughout their future studies and lives.
The study camp concluded amidst laughter and applause, earning high praise from students and parents alike. SPEA Suzhou will continue to build specialized, practical platforms and integrate technical resources to bridge the gap between the classroom and the lab, empowering more young talent to excel in the future.
