Beyond the Rulebook
What happens when the rule book is no longer useful, or worse, was never written in the first place? In today’s fast-moving electronics landscape, we’re increasingly asked to design and build what has no precedent, no proven path, and no tidy checklist to follow. This is where “Design for Invention” begins.
March Madness
From the growing role of AI in design tools to the challenge of managing cumulative tolerances, these articles in this issue examine the technical details, design choices, and manufacturing considerations that determine whether a board works as intended.
Looking Forward to APEX EXPO 2026

JAVAD EMS Opens the New Year with Key SMT Equipment Upgrades
January 15, 2026 | JAVAD EMSEstimated reading time: 1 minute
JAVAD EMS (JEMS), a leading global EMS company that provides low to medium volume, high-mix applications, has added two JUKI G-Titan screen printers to its SMT production floor. The additions bring the total number of G-Titan systems in operation at JAVAD EMS to five, further strengthening solder paste printing capability and providing customers with improved process control, higher yield, and added capacity for complex assemblies.
With an expanded G-Titan platform in place, JAVAD EMS enhances control for fine-pitch components, dense layouts, and high-reliability builds. Customers benefit from more consistent print quality, tighter process windows, and repeatable results from prototype through production.
Engineered for modern, high-mix SMT environments, the JUKI G-Titan incorporates advanced process controls designed to reduce variation early in the assembly process. Features such as Solder Paste Rolling Measurement, Optimum Paste Control (OPC) squeegees with automatic paste dispense, and Stencil Lock with Stencil Position Memory (SPM) support accurate, uniform paste deposition across challenging PCB designs.
Additional capabilities, including automatic stencil cleaning, 2D paste inspection, and the Flexible Auto Clamp (FAC) system, help streamline setup and changeovers while maintaining stable printing conditions. Built-in monitoring of humidity, temperature, and paste rolling diameter further supports consistent performance across shifts and production runs.
Expanding the G-Titan fleet also increases overall line flexibility, allowing JAVAD EMS to respond efficiently to changing schedules and customer demand without sacrificing process control or print consistency.
JAVAD EMS provides fully integrated manufacturing services, including new product introduction (NPI), material procurement, PCBA and system-level assembly, test, final packaging, logistics, and after-sales support. Customers partner with an experienced, reliable, and flexible EMS provider capable of supporting demanding manufacturing requirements.
By continuing to invest in proven SMT technology, JAVAD EMS helps customers move products forward with confidence, knowing print quality and process stability are addressed from the start.

American Made Advocacy: Rebuilding America’s Military Stockpiles Begins With Microelectronics
04/28/2026 | Shane Whiteside -- Column: American Made AdvocacyCurrent world events demonstrate the fragility of long-distance supply chains transiting multiple zones of conflict. The U.S. military is currently drawing down supplies of key munitions and other electronic systems at unprecedented rates.1Every one of those systems is powered by printed circuit boards. The American PCB industry has kept pace with peacetime demand for the defense industry, but will now be called upon to increase production to a wartime footing at rates not seen in decades.
