March 10, 2016 | MC AssemblyEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Veteran executive Jose Sierra has been appointed vice president of quality and engineering by contract manufacturer MC Assembly. Sierra, who will report directly to COO Luis Ramirez, will lead MC Assembly's technical initiatives across the company's sites in the United States and Mexico, supporting the operations strategy and market growth of the company.
"We're delighted to have Jose join our team," Ramirez said. "His experience and strong technical background will help MC Assembly continue to enhance its value to its customers. We believe his breadth of experience in the markets we focus our resources on will accelerate our Lean Journey, leveraging the large financial investments we made in Lean in 2015."
Sierra previously served as vice president of Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement at Lighting Science Group, where he was responsible for the reliability, compliance and safety of the product life cycle and the continuous improvement activities for multiple factories in Mexico, China and India.
Prior to Lighting Science Group, Sierra spent many years associated with the defense industry with industry leaders such as Lockheed Martin and DRS Technologies. During that time, he served in several leadership roles in the Quality, Reliability and Continuous Improvement areas.
Sierra holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and management systems, a Master of Science in quality and reliability and a PhD in industrial engineering and management systems from the University of Central Florida. He is also a certified Master Black Belt.
A national leader in contract manufacturing, MC Assembly currently has operations in Billerica, Massachusetts, Melbourne, Florida, and Zacatecas, Mexico. In January, the company almost doubled its manufacturing presence in Billerica, moving to a new 58,000-square-foot manufacturing space.
