Facing the Future: Engaging a New Generation
For some time now, many of us just assumed that robots would take over our jobs, and then, well, what would happen next? But what we’ve found is that one of, if not the best, aspects of a factory is the cooperation between humans and automation. Particularly with Factory 5.0 and its philosophy of “cobots” (the cooperation between humans and robots), that prospective of robots taking over has changed drastically. For the first-time, people are respected as an integral part of the manufacturing process. It envisions a highly integrated and intelligent production environment where humans and machines work side-by-side, leveraging each other's strengths to achieve maximum efficiency, productivity, and innovation. Facing the Future: American Manufacturing on the Rise
I have been in and around circuit boards most of my life. I started 20 years ago in my family’s PCB shop, leaving after a couple of years to start my own software company. About a year ago, I returned to the family business, and the first thing I noticed was that nothing had really changed. We were doing the same things in the same way as the day I left. After talking to several experts in the industry, I realized it was worse than that: The manufacturing of PCBs had not changed in 70 years.
